5 Highest Protein Smoothies From Major Smoothie Stores
Ever wonder what chain smoothies have the highest protein amounts? Do Jamba Juice smoothies have more protein than Smoothie King smoothies? We looked at the numbers and found the smoothies with the most protein sold by major smoothie chains. We specifically compared Smoothie King, Booster Juice, Jamba Juice,Tropical Smoothie Cafe, and Orange Julius. Looking through the nutritional data of all their medium sized smoothies, here are the top five smoothies with the most protein.
These smoothies are just a starting point. Almost all smoothie brands offer the option of boosters and additions to the base smoothie, so you can often add even more protein to a smoothie. Like making a smoothie at home, you can often ask the person making your smoothie to customize it a bit.
Highest Protein Smoothies You Can Buy
1) Gladiator Smoothies By Smoothie King
The Gladiator smoothies sold by Smoothie King have more protein than any other smoothie on the market. They use Smoothie King’s custom protein powder and contain anywhere between 48 and 45 grams of protein per smoothie. That’s the same as a protein powder shake.
The protein comes from whey which is the standard source of protein for most protein powders. For some reason the vanilla flavor of the Gladiator smoothies has the most protein (48g) while strawberry has the least (45g). You can also get these in chocolate and coffee flavors.

2) Whey PB + Banana Protein by Jamba Juice
Coming in at a strong second is Jamba Juice. The Jamba Juice smoothie with the highest amount of protein is the Whey PB + Banana Protein smoothie. The ingredients of this smoothie are super simple and similar to a healthy homemade smoothie recipe: reduced fat milk bananas peanut butter whey protein honey. You can get version with pea and soy protein instead of whey if you prefer.
This smoothie has 44 grams of protein, just one gram less than the Strawberry Gladiator smoothie mentioned above. This is a great choice for a smoothie that contains a ton of protein.
3) Nuttin’ Better by Booster Juice
Booster Juice’s highest protein smoothie is the Nuttin’ Better smoothie. It’s their take on a peanut butter and jelly smoothie, but they use a soy blend as a nut substitute. Along with the soy, this smoothie has milk and whey protein in it, giving it a solid 39 grams of protein.
I don’t love the lack of actual nuts in this smoothie, but if you’re at a Booster Juice and need something with a bunch of protein, this is going to be your first choice.
4) Peanut Paradise With Pea Protein by Tropical Smoothie Cafe
Here’s another simple smoothie made from peanut butter, banana, non-fat yogurt, and pea protein. The option for pea protein is a nice change from the whey found in most protein smoothies (though whey is an option here). This smoothie has a solid 37 grams of protein.
5) The Shredder by Smoothie King
Smoothie King makes another appearance on the list with their Gladiator protein powder. This time in the form of a Shredder smoothie. It uses the same protein powder mix as the Gladiator smoothies, but comes with less total protein in the smoothie; 34 grams of protein. Still a very decent number.
What Else To Know About High Protein Smoothies
You can see some obvious commonalities in these smoothies. They all add protein powders of one kind or another, and often include nuts, milk, or yogurt, all of which are high in protein. I’m always a fan of simple foods that have few ingredients. Smoothies can be high in calories and sugars too, so that’s always something to consider.
Another option for a high protein smoothie is to make one at home. As you can see some of these smoothies have four or five ingredients that you might already have at home. If you go this route you can always customize the smoothie by changing the ratio of ingredients or adding other ingredients to your smoothie.
I also looked at Orange Julius to see if they had any high protein smoothies, but they don’t. Their highest protein smoothie is the Banana Chill Smoothie which only has 6 grams of protein. This smoothie is mostly water and flavored yogurt. It’s much more of a dessert drink than a protein smoothie. So if you’re looking for a high protein smoothie, you should probably skip Orange Julius altogether. Or maybe bring your own protein powder to add to one of their smoothies.
