Banana Strawberry Kombucha Smoothie
One of the very first smoothie recipes I fell in love with was the classic banana and strawberry smoothie. This is still one of my favorite food combinations of all time. I’m obviously not the only one, as there are many smoothie recipes that focus on mixing bananas and strawberries.
One of my favorite things about smoothies is the ability to take a simple recipe and add to it. Making a smoothie doesn’t take much time or effort, so experimenting isn’t very risky. This is why I enjoy adding different foods to the classic banana and strawberry smoothie to see how they mix together.
This time I took a cup of kombucha and mixed it in. The result was really good. The smoothie has the classic strawberry banana flavor, but also a little bit of tartness from the kombucha. I’m also able to taste the carbonation of the kombucha, which is nice.
Kombucha is a fermented tea drink. You can buy it in most grocery stores, or you can purchase a scoby and start to brew it yourself. I’ve brewed my own for a while and found that it was stronger than the store bought kombucha. It was really easy to make. I’m actually about to start brewing some again now that summer is approaching.
Kombucha contains a large amount of probiotics and is popular as a way to help keep the digestive tract healthy. It’s also naturally carbonated, making it a natural alternative to soda.
