Rainbow Diet 1000 Calorie Fruit Smoothie
The following is a mostly fruit smoothie. You would have to eat a whole heck of a lot of fruit to get 1000 calories just from fruit, so there are some other natural ingredients which add more healthy calories. The non-fruit ingredients also increase the amount of healthy fat and protein in the smoothie. As you probably know, fruits offer a huge amount of vitamins, minerals, fiber and other resources which keep your body healthy.
The idea of a rainbow diet is to ensure you eat natural whole foods from different colors. Different colored foods generally contain different types of nutrients, so you want to eat a whole rainbow of vibrant colored foods to ensure you are getting a true balance in your diet. This is a holistic idea to nutrition, where you eat many different foods to keep your whole body healthy. The focus is on every part of your body getting the nutrients specifically needed by that body part.
The following smoothie recipe has food from the whole color palate. Yellow, green, red, blue, brown. It’s a whole rainbow of food in a single meal. The whole foods in this smoothie power your whole body.
Ingredients:
- 3 Bananas
- 1 Cup Blueberries
- 1 Cup Raspberries
- 1 Cup Strawberries
- 1 Tbsp Almond Butter
- 1/4 Cup Dates
- 1 Cup Kale
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 2 Scoops Protein
Directions:
- Pit the dates. Peel the bananas. Blend the berries before anything else, this creates a rich berry juice which will make blending everything else easier. Once the berries are blended just add everything else. If your blender is having trouble blending everything, add some water.
Twists:
- If the kale is too strong for you, spinach has a less intense flavor and is still full of nutrients.
- If you want some orange added to the rainbow of colors, you can use a bit of orange juice as a base.
- If 1000 calories is too much for you, just cut the portions down, or remove a couple of the ingrediants.
